Diagnodent

Sub-surface caries lesions have always been extremely difficult to detect, but our office has invested in the latest technology to detect them, the DIAGNOdent pen. It is important to detect cavities as quickly as possible, and using this new technology we are able to find caries lesions, or tooth decay, before they harm the integrity of the teeth and turn into future dental issues. While x-rays are an excellent way of diagnosing those cavities that are on the surface of the teeth, this new tool allows for Dr. Goodarzi to detect cavities in the pits and fissures of the teeth where an x-ray image cannot reach.

The use of DIAGNOdent for the early detection of cavities is important so that Dr. Goodarzi can determine what to expect in the future and hopefully put an end to any sort of further decay. If the cavity is barely noticeable, he may apply a sealant to the tooth or if the decay has shown to progress a little further then a filing may be the best course of action to restore the tooth.

The Family and Cosmetic Dentistry uses a combination of both x-rays and DIAGNOdent for the diagnosis of cavities to make sure that everything is found. Not every patient will require this device and Dr. Goodarzi or hygienist will use this tool only on areas that are suspicious of a possible cavity.
